Unit Objectives:
With demonstrations and applications, students will create a presentation to display the game they coded to peers.
Students will analyze and give feedback to peers game to help improve their success rate.
Students will brainstorm and create their personal coding game from scratch using the game design document.
This unit plan is designed to have students reflect on the basics of Game Design using their block coding or JavaScript coding skills previously taught. (This unit is flexible to fit and adapt to the needs of your classroom knowledge and skills.)
Students will complete their final project for a game design class. In this project, students must create a game to display to the class. This is an excellent opportunity for students to show off their knowledge and skills in game design. For this project, students will make use of the following coding options for their project based on their skill level:
JavaScript Coding
HTML Coding
Scratch Website
GameStar Mechanic
Any other platform they have learned to code on in this class
Students will also create a Game Design Document and prototype, run Bug Testing, receive feedback, Finalize a Game Design Project, create a presentation, participate in a Game Play Day Booth, and complete a class reflection project. This is a great final unit plan complete of projects for any game design class of any level!
This unit is infused with technology and real-world application and is designed to be engaging and rigorous. It is the perfect unit for any technology, computer, STEAM, or business class.
This unit plan is conducted through engaging projects that are graded on effort/attempt and a project graded on overall appearance and completion of given requirements.
