Game Play Day Activity
Unit Objectives:
With demonstrations and applications, students will know the basic foundations of block coding.
Students will analyze and research block coding games using the game design document.
Students will brainstorm and create their personal block coding games.
This unit focuses on block coding and is designed to make programming accessible and engaging for people, especially beginners, including children and educators. Users can create interactive stories, games, animations, and more by assembling blocks representing code elements, eliminating the need to write traditional lines of code. This unit has two projects that have students explore Scratch and GameStar Mechanics to learn all things involving block coding, and at the end of the projects, students will create their games. Students can also participate in a gameplay day activity to show off the games they created by having classmates play them. This unit is fantastic for students who want to gain confidence in their coding skills.
This unit is infused with technology and real-world application and is designed to be engaging and rigorous. It is the perfect unit for any technology, computer, or business class.
